*** Attention ***
Everyone who chooses to participate in the WHFD’s garbage pick-up service with CWPM is required to use Town of Westerly Orange Bags. All acceptable recycling needs to be loose (not in bags), in a separate receptacle clearly marked for recyclables. This applies to all eligible residences, residential condo units and retail establishments. Thank you for your cooperation.
Residential trash pickup in the Watch Hill Fire District is “backyard” service. The contractor, CWPM LLC, collects trash and recyclable materials from your property (note: CWPM is not allowed to enter your residence or garage), not at the curb. Please be sure CWPM has unencumbered access to your trash area through your driveway on pickup days, no later than 7:00 am, to avoid experiencing delays and missed pickups.
Pick Up Days:
· Memorial Day to Columbus Day – Monday and Thursday (both Trash and Recyclables)
· Off Season – Monday – (both Trash and Recyclables)
In the event of severe weather, holidays, or other unforeseen circumstances where service cannot be reasonably provided, notification will be sent to the Fire District and residents, and service will be provided on the next day.
Non-recyclable Trash must be placed in Town of Westerly Orange garbage bags, which may be purchased at grocery and other retailers. Please note the Town of Westerly weight limit is 35 pounds per large (35 Gallon) trash bag and 20 pounds per small (15 Gallon) trash bag. Place secure filled orange bags inside an enclosed or lidded trash receptacle to keep animals out. Each receptacle with its contents shall not weigh more than sixty (60) pounds. The contractor will not be responsible for picking up any items that would be rejected by the Town of Westerly transfer station, such as demolition or construction materials, hazardous or toxic materials, discarded appliances or electronics, nor any lumber, branches, leaves, or brush.
Recyclables must be in a similar receptacle clearly marked for recyclables (note: recyclables may not be left in paper or plastic bags). Glass, paper, cans and plastics may be commingled. Cardboard boxes must be broken down or they will not be picked up.
Please be sure to share this information with any guests or tenants residing at your property.
